Haunted House—BLACKOUT

TRICK or TREAT anyone?

Its HALLOWEEN season again! My favorite time of the year! Ghosts, witches, and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY………the movies of course. Paranormal Activity 4 is now is theaters! The movies aren’t scary..for me at least. But its interesting to watch.

Anyways..Halloween always means scaring people or getting scared yourself! And going to Haunted houses!! But which are the scariest?

So I was checking out some haunted houses here in New York. Seeing reviews and which got good reviews and ratings. But I come across this:

Blackout Haunted House

Hmm, seems scary already. I check into their website and see the rules to enter the attraction.

Check the screenshot of the Rules:

Muslims looked down upon..even more..

On Wednesday, October 16 2012, a 21-year-old, Bengali guy got caught in a terrorist act, trying to blow up the New York Federal Reserve Bank, located in the heart of Manhattan, New York.

So this guy, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, comes to America on a student visa and decides he wants to do something “big”. Unlike other immigrants who travel to the U.S. to study, get a career, save money to can support their family, he stated that he wants to

“shake the whole country” and “destroy America, behalf on Al Qaeda.”

So, I’m guessing he missed 9/11? I’m pretty sure the WORLD was already shaken up by that.

What really is bothersome here about this is that, his parents spent everything, all their life savings, to get their son started to a better life. Don’t forget, Bangladesh is a poor country. Well ok, not that poor, but work is hard to find, and saving for a child’s education?, even harder. Imagine what his parents are going through right now to find that their son has plotted a stupid act, that not only disgraced his family, but the whole country as well. His father believed he was devoted into his studies. Yea..probably trying to master the study of terrorism.

Queens Woman Killed While Crossing the Street

Image taken from NY1 news

On Saturday evening, girl was walking with her mother on Hillside Ave, Jamaica. The girl walked ahead of her mom and left her behind while they were crossing the street. The daughter made it to the other side, while her mom was still walking behind. And just in a few seconds, a Nassau-County bus made a sharp turn and hit her mom before she walked all the way through. The daughter didn’t realize till after. Her mom died at the scene. Always be careful when crossing the street. One second can change your whole life. Although I don’t know who they are, my prayers go to the Bengali girl and her family. It hurts to even hear a story of anyone’s death. As they say in Islamic religion after someone’s death: Inna lillahi Wa inna ilaihi Rajioon.

Stop the Cyber bullying!

Have you ever been a victim of cyber bullying? Whether someone has taken your name, pics, and personal information and let it out to the world without your consent? Well if you have, what are you doing about it?

Screenshot of Amanda’s youtube video.

The most recent cyber bullying was Amanda Todd, 15, of Canada. She was bullied everyday of her life because of one mistake she made. She was chatting online with a stranger who suggested her to take her top off and expose herself. Amanda gave into the stranger’s request. A photo was taken, and her life went downhill from there.

Paint a picture

Happy birthday Mom! From Sabreena

Whether you know how to paint or not. Whether you know how to hold a brush or not. Whether you know the differences between colors or not, paint a picture. You don’t know what you are capable of.

A few years ago, I didn’t know how to paint. In fact, I didn’t know I was able to paint. I only knew how to draw cartoons and I never went beyond that. Even when drawing, I dare not to color in the picture. I thought to myself, “what if i mess up? I’m going to have to start all over again!!” My drawings were plain images, uncolored, and simple.

Standing Between Two Bridges

By Sabreena

Ever just wanted to get out? Being in the middle of two bridges and standing in front of a river hearing nothing but the sound of the wind and the motion of the waves can really take all stress out of you especially when all you’re thinking about is nothing but having the moment with you. It feels like you’re flying.

Just standing, with your eyes closed, and letting all force of any burden and stress out of your body.

Sometimes silence is the best stress relief. And it is also healthy for your body, mind and soul. It makes you feel free. And you can start your day relaxed.

raging clouds

By Sabreena

On Thursday afternoon, clouds gathered up for a storm. Just minutes before the sky started to become dark, the sky was clear with sunshine. It wasn’t long before the sun was hidden behind the clouds and rain was headed our way. The sky started to get dark and you can hear the thunder coming. Few signs of lightning. But thunder slowly became loud. Just a few minutes later, rain started and was falling heavily. But only for a short period of time. Before we knew it, it was over. Rain was slowing down. Soon enough, even the sun came out. The roads slowly dried off. It seemed like nothing happened and not a drop of water hit the ground as the sun had dried off the wet concrete of the streets. But I must say, the clouds looked amazing before the storm. Even better when it was a bright blue sky with the sun shinning through it.
